Board and Other Public Meetings

If you would like to comment on any agenda item at a board meeting, you must complete a speaker's form at the registration table (outside the meeting room) prior to the agenda item being taken up by the Board or send an email to gco_general@txdmv.gov to register by providing the required information prior to the agenda item being taken up by the Board:

1. a completed Public Comment Registration Form, or
2. the following information:
1. the agenda item you wish to comment on;
2. your name;
3. your address (optional), including your city, state, and zip code; and
4. who you are representing.

Public comment will only be accepted in person. When the agenda item is called that you would like to comment on, wait to be called to the podium. Be prepared to begin your statement by introducing yourself and stating the topic you would like to discuss. For example:

“Mr. Chairman and members of the Board, I am [name] from [city]. I am here representing [myself or organization] and I wish to speak to you today about …”

Each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes for their comments. A “traffic light” system is used to signal how much time a speaker has remaining. The yellow light means a speaker’s time is almost over and a red light means a speaker’s time is up. Groups of people who wish to address one topic are encouraged to appoint one representative to deliver the group’s comments rather than offering repetitive remarks.

Once your comment time has ended, board members may have questions regarding your comment. If not, please return to your seat. You are welcome to stay for the duration of the public meeting or leave the meeting when you’d like.
